These books represent the tip of the tip of the iceberg known as my To Be Read pile. My book habit is a bit of a problem, and I don't want to say how long I've had some of these books, but I do intend to read them all. Luckily, I found a reading challenge at Bookish Ardor, called the Off the Shelf challenge. You read books that you already own, either printed or digital, that you haven't already read. I've chosen the "Making a Dint" level. Over 2012, I intend to read 30 books that have been laying around the house and blog about them. Hopefully, I'll get to more than 30 this year, and make a dent in the TBR mountain.
The glass jar represents the sampler part of "Books and Samplers." Sharon at Daffycat is running the 2012 TUSAL, or Totally Useless Stitch-Along. Each month at the new moon during 2012, I need to post a photo of the jar with ORTS accumulated during that month. (It's okay if some months the jar doesn't get any fuller; a photo gets posted anyway.) My plan is to stitch so much this year that the jar will be full by next December 31. (BTW, the jar is an old instant coffee jar from our bicentennial year of 1976 that has somehow survived several moves over the decades.)
So, while I don't have a list of New Year's Resolutions, I am committing myself to reading books I've bought over the years, and stitching projects that should have been hanging on my walls already.
We'll see how well I do.
Happy New Year!
