A post! At last!
It has been kind of a roller coaster ride since June. Around the time of my last post, I found a litter of 3 abandonned kittens. We think that their mother died somehow, and they were only about 4 weeks old. Well, what could I do but start taking care of them? They're a handful, but very cute, and our dog has accepted them as part of the family.
So, while our household has increased by a total of 4 kittens this year, we also had raccoons in one part of our roof, and a leak in another part of the roof.
Then, a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a spot in the corner of my eye, like a shadow or sun spot that wouldn't go away. Turns out that there were holes forming in my retina, and a little over a week ago, I had eye surgery. Recovery is going well, but the eye takes a while to heal. So stitching is on the back burner for a while. But the good news is that I can read large print comfortably, so I've been continuing with A Feast for Crows (Book 4 in A Song of Ice and Fire). This series is an incredible read, and I've been a bit obsessed with it this summer.

Wow you are so lucky to have a doctor who did something immediately about the tears in your retina. I started seeing the black spots in my eyes years ago and was told it was blood where a tear had occured over a blood vessel. Nobody did anything except look at it. Then it stopped for about a year and then all of a sudden one day I noticed my vision starting to go weird and found out that the retina was detaching. Four surgeries later I have about 60% vision in my problem eye. Luckily the eye doc who fixed it immediately did a surgery in my other eye as soon as it started doing the black spots:-)
ReplyDeleteMonique, I'm so sorry that your doctor didn't act right away! I've come to realize how important our eyesight really is, and I hope your vision will improve in the problem eye. My vision has changed, but it's a small price to pay. Take care!
